Background of the Firm

The current partnership between Alan Karp, James Steedman and Eric Ross-Adjie was established in April 2000 when Eric Ross-Adjie joined the existing firm of Karp & Steedman as a partner. The firm’s clients include national and international corporations, financial institutions, property developers, small to large business owners, charitable institutions and individuals.

Firm Philosophy

The firm strives to provide within a personal and boutique environment the excellence in commercial legal services that is expected of large St George’s Terrace firms but with sensitivity to:

  • each client’s individual needs and requirements;
  • cost and time efficiency; and
  • avoiding overservicing.

Our dynamic, energetic and highly qualified legal team delivers results as quickly and as efficiently as possible, utilising up to date resources and technology. We often approach matters laterally, rather than simply following “standard” procedures without giving thought to the ultimate consequences for our clients.

We:

  • endeavour to build a strong personal relationship with each of our clients based on integrity and trust;
  • take the time to get to know our clients’ businesses and to understand and meet the expectations that our clients have of their legal advisors;
  • endeavour to provide lateral and innovative solutions to the legal problems faced by our clients;
  • provide practical, common sense and commercial legal advice to our clients on a cost effective basis; and
  • are committed to “quality” principles. The firm is accredited to the Law Society of Western Australia's “Quality Practice Standard.”
